S-Adenosylmethionine

S-Adenosylmethionine is a completely natural substance that is found in almost every tissue in the human body. By its very nature, SAMe is the amino acid methionine associated with the adenosine triphosphate (ATP) molecule. SAMе is circulating in the blood and serves primarily as a methyl donor. SAMe is also known as the name adeethimein. SAMe has the ability to cross the blood-brain barrier, and high efficacy with regard to multiple metabolic processes is conditioned by the fact that SAM is using its own transporter in the body called SAMC. It is used successfully in liver and cirrhosis, affects positively the mood in humans, but effectiveness against severe depressive states is conditional, significantly improves the depressive condition of Parkinson's disease.
